DePaul 86, Seton Hall 58:
Jamee Crockett scored 21 points and Cleveland Melvin had a strong game as the Blue Demons snapped a nine-game slide and threw a wrench into the Pirates’ NCAA tournament at-large hopes.

Melvin collected 14 points and nine rebounds and Jeremiah Kelly chipped in 15 points and 10 assists for DePaul (12-18, 3-15 Big East), which is already locked into the No. 16 seed in the upcoming Big East tournament.

Seton Hall (19-11, 8-10) has dropped three of four to fall out of the top eight in the conference, meaning it will not get a first-round bye in the conference tournament.

The Blue Demons took control late in the first half, ending with a 20-6 burst to take a 40-27 lead into the break.

Kelly scored seven points during a 16-6 spurt to begin the second half, stretching the lead to 56-33.

The Pirates turned the ball over 15 times and could never get into a rhythm offensively despite playing against the Big East’s worst defensive team.

Herb Pope scored 16 points to lead Seton Hall.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pirates senior point guard Jordan Theodore finished with five turnovers and three assists. … DePaul dominated the glass 33-21 and shot 53.7 percent from the floor. … Seton Hall struggled to 13 for 22 from the free throw line.
