GEORGETOWN 59, NOTRE DAME 41: Jason Clark scored 13 and Henry Sims scored 12 in their final home game as No. 12 Georgetown surged into a three-way tie for third place in the Big East with the victory.

Freshman Greg Whittington made 5 of 6 from the field, three of them 3-pointers, and led the Hoyas with a career-high 15 points. Georgetown (22-6, 21-5 Big East) shot 54.8 percent from the field.

Clark made 5 of 7 from the field with six rebounds, Sims added six rebounds and five assists, and Otto Porter had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Notre Dame (20-10, 12-5 Big East) had won four of its last five road games, but never had a chance against Georgetown. The Irish shot only 33.3 from the field and suffered two stretches where they went six minutes without scoring a basket. Their 41 points was their lowest output of the season. The Irish did not have a player score in double figures and lost for the second straight game.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Georgetown’s Markel Starks, who didn’t play against Villanova, returned to action and scored four points. . . . Georgetown has won 10 conference games in six of seven seasons. . . . Georgetown now leads the series 15-13 and broke a three-game Notre Dame winning streak.
