GEORGIA 76, NO. 11 FLORIDA 62: Freshman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 18 points as Georgia used an inspired defensive effort to upset the visiting Gators.

The victory snaps a three-game losing streak for Georgia (13-15, 4-10 SEC). It’s the Bulldogs’ second consecutive victory over a ranked team; Georgia upset Mississippi State two weeks ago before losing three straight.

The Gators (22-7, 10-4 SEC) had won three in a row but never found their rhythm against the Bulldogs, who rank third in the SEC in scoring defense. Florida shot just 36.1 percent and scored 16 points below its season average. Georgia’s Donte Williams blocked six shots.

Down 15 points in the second half, Florida pulled within 67-62 on Kenny Boynton’s 3-pointer with 1:51 remaining. Florida freshman Bradley Beal fouled Danny Ware at midcourt with one second on the shot clock. Ware hit both free throws with 1:17 to go to push the Bulldogs’ lead to 69-62.

Gerald Robinson scored six points during a early 10-2 run that gave Georgia a 19-8 lead. Florida pulled within three points late in the first half, but the Bulldogs extended their advantage to 36-27 at halftime.

Georgia, last in the SEC and 329th in the nation in field-goal percentage (39.2 percent), shot 52.9 percent from the field and made 7-for-20 from 3-point range. Robinson finished with 15 points.

Beal led the Gators with 19 points and added 12 rebounds.
