LSU 69, No. 23 MISSISSIPPI STATE 67: Anthony Hickey’s basket with 1.6 seconds left in overtime capped a huge comeback for the host Tigers, who trailed by 17 points in the first half.

Down 30-13 with six minutes left in the first half, LSU (15-10, 5-6 SEC) stormed back to force overtime. In extra time, Hickey’s scoop in the lane gave the Tigers a 67-63 advantage with 27.1 seconds remaining.

Mississippi State (19-7, 6-5 SEC) pulled within 67-66 on Renardo Sidney’s 3-pointer with 12.2 seconds left. Brian Bryant then stole Ralston Turner’s inbound pass and was fouled. Bryant hit the first free throw to tie the game at 67, but the second one lipped out.

After Hickey drove to the basket and scored, LSU stole the inbounds pass and ran out the clock to hand the Bulldogs their second consecutive overtime defeat.

The Bulldogs raced to a 30-13 lead in the first 14 minutes, but the Tigers played their way back into the game. LSU closed the first half on a 16-6 run, then tied the game on Hickey’s layup three minutes into the second half.

Down 48-41 midway through the first half, the Tigers used an 11-2 run to take a 52-50 lead on Storm Warren’s layup with 6:41 remaining. LSU had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation, but Justin Hamilton’s long 3-pointer kicked off the back rim.

Turner led LSU with 17 points. Dee Bost led the Bulldogs with 15 points.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Hamilton hit two 3-pointers; he came into the game with one 3-pointer all season. … Bost scored 13 of the Bulldogs’ first 30 points, but did not score again until midway through the second half. … Mississippi State’s Arnett Moultrie finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and leads the SEC with 14 double-doubles. Moultrie suffered a left shoulder injury in the final seconds of regulation. … The game was delayed briefly when the clock stopped working with 2:04 remaining.
