GEORGETOWN 71, ST. JOHN'S 61: Five Hoyas scored in double figures as No. 11 Georgetown began the weakest part of its schedule by grinding out a seventh straight home win over St. John’s.

Jason Clark scored 11 points for Georgetown (19-5, 9-4 Big East), including six points on two straight possessions late in the second half as the Hoyas pulled away.

St. John’s (10-15, 4-9 Big East) fell to 0-10 against ranked opponents. Red Storm leading scorers D’Angelo Harrison and Moe Harkless combined for 44 points but a thin six-man rotation stayed stagnant for key stretches against the Big East’s best scoring defense.

The Hoyas bounced back from an overtime loss at Syracuse on Wednesday and have four more consecutive games against unranked foes, including two at home, where they improved to 13-1. Despite Clark’s 1 for 8 performance behind the 3-point line, the Hoyas controlled tempo and passed the ball at will into the interior against the Red Storm, which allowed a fourth straight opponent to shoot at least 49 percent from the field.

Game Notebook: Despite its size advantage, Georgetown only outrebounded St. John’s 32-26. ... St. John’s went 6 for 20 from 3-point range. ... The Hoyas’ bench outscored the Johnnies' bench 23-2.
