MARQUETTE 95, CINCINNATI 78: Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom scored 23 points each to power No. 19 Marquette past visiting Cincinnati.

The Golden Eagles (21-5, 10-3 Big East) fell into a 16-4 hole early before taking control, taking the lead with a pair of 8-0 runs and scoring the last seven points of the first half to go into the break with a 47-35 cushion. The Bearcats (17-8, 7-5) got as close as eight in the second half before Marquette put the game away with an 8-2 run, capped by a Johnson-Odom three-point play that made it 67-53 with 11:25 remaining.

Crowder scored 14 of his points in the second half for the Golden Eagles, who remained a half-game ahead of Notre Dame for second place in the Big East. Marquette, which shot 57 percent (34 for 60) from the field, finished with 22 assists while committing just seven turnovers.

Cincinnati came in as the most prolific 3-point shooting team in the conference but struggled from outside Saturday, missing all six of its shots from beyond the arc in the second half and making just 3 of 13 overall.

Dion Dixon and JaQuon Parker finished with 15 points apiece for the Bearcats. Jamil Wilson contributed 15 points for Marquette.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Marquette has reached the 90-point mark six times this season, but this was their first time scoring more than 83 in league play ... The Golden Eagles were playing without sophomore center Davante Gardner (knee), who has now missed the last four games ... Cincinnati lost despite a 42-29 rebounding advantage against the undersized Golden Eagles ... The two schools will meet again in Cincinnati on Feb. 29.
