MIAMI 65, VIRGINIA TECH 49: Reggie Johnson scored 15 points and dished out four assists as Miami defeated visiting Virginia Tech to extend its winning streak to five games in ACC play for the first time ever.

Shane Larkin registered 14 points and Kenny Kadji added 11for Miami (15-7, 6-3 ACC), which handed the Hokies their fourth loss in five games.

Virginia Tech (13-11, 2-7) pulled within 47-42 with 7:57 remaining, but consecutive 3-pointers by Trey McKinney Jones and Larkin gave Miami breathing room.

Erick Green scored 17 points to lead Virginia Tech, extending his streak of double-figure games to 25.

Miami led by as many as 16 points in the first half, but Virginia Tech finished with a 10-2 run to close within 30-22 at halftime. Seven different players scored for the Hurricanes in the opening 20 minutes, led by Rion Brown’s six.

The Hokies turned the ball over 10 times in the first half, but Dorenzo Hudson scored seven of his eight points to keep them in striking distance.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Miami is 10-2 at home. … Junior Durand Scott earned his 300th career assist in the first half for Miami. … The Hurricanes were only called for one foul in the first half. … Scott and Malcolm Grant, Miami’s leading scorers, combined for just six points.
