Matt Gatens scored 18 points and Iowa ended a three-game losing streak by rallying for a 63-59 victory over visiting Minnesota on Wednesday.

Roy Devyn Marble scored 12 points as the Hawkeyes (12-11, 4-6 Big Ten) completed a season sweep of the Golden Gophers by overcoming a nine-point second-half deficit.

Ralph Sampson III scored 13 points for Minnesota (16-7, 4-6), which also let an 11-point lead slip away in a 64-62 home loss to the Hawkeyes on Jan. 19.

In a game full of big runs, Iowa had the last laugh. The Hawkeyes closed on a 9-0 spurt and overcame a surprisingly-hot shooting Minnesota team. The Golden Gophers entered averaging less than five 3-pointers, but finished 10 of 19 from beyond the arc.

Oto Osenieks' 3-pointer gave the Golden Gophers a 59-54 lead with 3:24 left, but that turned out to be Minnesota’s last field goal. Devyn Marble pulled the Hawkeyes to within two with a 3-pointer, then tied the game with a thunderous one-handed jam.

Bryce Cartwright’s free throws made it 61-59 with just over a minute left. The crowd erupted when Devyn Marble drove the lane and found Gatens for a game-clinching layup with eight seconds left.

The teams traded big runs in the first half. Iowa scored 15 of the first 18 points, but couldn't sustain the hot start. Minnesota shook off the rust and closed the half on a 24-9 run to take a 27-24 lead into the locker room.
