Brandon Richardson nailed the go-ahead 3-pointer and finished with a career-high 25 points as visiting Nebraska rallied for a 79-73 Big Ten victory over Iowa.

Richardson shot 6-of-7 from the 3-point line for the Cornhuskers (11-9, 3-6 Big Ten), who secured their first-ever Big Ten road win and just their fifth true road win since the start of the 2008-09 season.

Nebraska, which trailed by as many as 11 points before the break, trailed 61-56 with 6:30 remaining before Richardson drained a 3-pointer to cut the lead to two.

Following two free throws each from Brandon Ubel and Dylan Talley, the Hawkeyes (11-10, 3-5 Big Ten) knotted the game at 63 with a layup from Aaron White. But Richardson drilled his sixth 3-pointer of the contest to give the Huskers the lead with 4:37 remaining.

Iowa managed to get within two points on three different occasions after that shot, but Nebraska – the conference’s best free-throw shooting team – managed to hold off the Hawkeyes by hitting five of their final six shots from the foul line and scoring on every possession thereafter.

The victory also gave Huskers’ coach Doc Sadler his 100th win at Nebraska.

Zach McCabe scored 20 points before fouling out for the Hawkeyes, who forced only nine turnovers – just the fourth time that Iowa did not force double-digit miscues this season.
