Phil Pressey posted his second career double-double with 18 points and 10 assists, and No. 9 Missouri used a fast start to push past visiting Texas 84-73 on Saturday.

Seven of Pressey’s points came during a 53-second stretch in the second half when he helped turn a five-point Tigers advantage into a comfortable 12-point lead.

Marcus Denmon added 18 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double for Missouri (16-1, 2-1 Big 12), which has won two in a row since opening the conference slate with an ugly loss at Kansas State.

Missouri big man Ricardo Ratliffe had a team-high 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting.

J’Covan Brown led Texas (12-5, 2-2 Big 12) with 34 points, his second 30-point effort this season but first since Nov. 15.

The Longhorns shot 9-of-16 from 3-point range but could do nothing to stop Missouri on the opposite end.

The Tigers opened the game red hot from long range, hitting seven of their first eight 3-pointers and taking a 33-19 lead on Denmon’s 3 from the top of the key with 7:55 remaining.

Missouri led 43-30 at halftime, but the Longhorns slowly whittled away at the lead and cut it to 62-57 on a pair of Brown free throws midway through the second.

But Pressey went on a quick 7-0 run by himself, capping it with a steal and fast-break dunk that forced the crowd to its feet.
