Seth Curry and Austin Rivers combined for 42 points as No. 5 Duke cruised to a 110-70 victory over Western Michigan Friday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Curry, a junior, finished with a career-high 22 points and Rivers added 20 for the Blue Devils (11-1), who registered their highest first-half point total of the season en route to a 63-35 halftime lead. Duke’s previous high was 53 in a win over Presbyterian on Nov. 12.

The Blue Devils couldn’t do anything wrong in the first half. They shot 53 percent from 3-point range and made 21-of-26 free-throw attempts. It didn’t take Duke long to extend its lead in the second half, as the Blue Devils led 76-39 after Curry hit a 3-pointer with 15:55 left to play.

Meanwhile, Western Michigan (5-8) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end after shooting 39 percent and committing 26 fouls – 18 of which were in the first half. Matt Stainbrook finished with 18 points and Demetrius Ward added 16 more for the Broncos.

Duke, which held a 44-26 advantage in rebounds, including 16-12 on the offensive glass, won its 92nd consecutive non-conference home game. Miles Plumlee accounted for 15 of those rebounds, setting a career high in the process.

The Blue Devils haven’t lost against a non-conference opponent at home since an 83-82 defeat to St. John’s on Feb. 26, 2000.

Quinn Cook, Josh Hairston and Tyler Thornton also had career-high point totals with 16, 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Duke, which has two games left – against Pennsylvania and Temple – before ACC play begins at Georgia Tech on Jan. 7.
