Quincy Miller scored 15 points and Perry Jones III added 14, helping No. 7 Baylor control the paint en route to an easy 72-59 win over St. Mary’s Thursday in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic.

Jones III and Miller–two projected NBA lottery picks–combined to shoot 11-of-22 from the field, and senior forward Quincy Acy added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bears (11-0) are off to the second-best start in program history and are one win shy of tying the school record for most consecutive victories to start a season. They can get that win on Friday night against West Virginia, which beat Missouri State in overtime in the first game of the event.

Rob Jones notched 14 points and seven rebounds for St. Mary’s (10-2), which had an eight-game winning streak snapped.

The Gaels had trouble with Baylor’s size advantage inside, as a number of shots were altered; Baylor won the rebounding battle 33-20.

Baylor led 36-34 at halftime and controlled through the early part of the second half, opening up a 52-42 lead on Jones III’s 3-pointer from the top of the key with11:07 left. On the Bears’ next possession, Anthony Jones scored on a baseline runner that gave them their biggest lead of the night to that point.

St. Mary’s went scoreless for almost four minutes midway through the second half, falling behind 61-46 with about six minutes remaining.
