Devin Booker and Milton Jennings combined for 25 points, and Clemson used another stifling defensive effort to win its second home game in three days, beating Alabama State 70-45 on Monday.

The Tigers (6-4) never trailed, jumping out to a 12-3 lead and keeping the Hornets at arm's length the rest of the way. Clemson turned in another strong defensive effort, holding the Hornets to 32.7 percent (17-of-52) from the field.

The Hornets (2-8) have averaged 40 points in back-to-back road losses to St. Louis and Clemson.

Clemson improved to 5-0 this season and 11-1 under second-year coach Brad Brownell when holding opponents to 50 points or less.

The Tigers also were able to take advantage of their size advantage in the post as Booker scored in double digits for the first time since Nov. 19 and Jennings snapped out of a mini-slump that had relegated him to the bench the past two games.

Booker was aggressive and got to the foul line often, finishing with a game-high 13 points and eight rebounds.

Jennings had scored a total of 13 points in the four games since he scored a career-high 22 against Furman on Nov. 25, but provided a big spark in a reserve role Monday, going 4-for-4 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line to score 12.

Kenderek Washington led the Hornets with 10 points.

Clemson leading scorer Andre Young struggled, scoring a season-low six points and missing all five 3-point attempts. Young had made at least one 3-pointer in 43 of his previous 44 games.
