Led by J’Covan Brown’s team-high 23 points, Texas overcame a three-point halftime deficit en route to a 77-65 victory over Temple Saturday at Frank Erwin Center.

Brown, a junior, converted 10-of-22 attempts from the field and scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive game for the Longhorns (9-2), who trailed 34-31 at the half.

With the win, the Longhorns improved to 8-0 at home and 3-2 in the all-time series against the Owls (6-3).

Myck Kabongo had 18 points and Jaylen Bond added 12 for the Longhorns, who shot 45 percent from the field despite converting on just 2-of-17 3-point attempts.

Temple, lacking an inside presence with Michael Eric sidelined with a patella injury, was outrebounded 46-20, including by a 16-3 margin on the offensive glass.

Ramone Moore finished with 13 points a week after scoring a career-high 32 points in Temple’s 78-67 win over Villanova. Khalif Wyatt added a season-high 24 points for the Owls, who snapped a three-game win streak.

Temple led 47-44 after Wyatt’s 3-pointer with 14:22 left, but the Longhorns responded with a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 53-47 lead.

Moments later, the advantage swelled to double digits, and the Owls were unable to draw closer than nine the rest of the way.
