Host Kansas State stayed undefeated with a smothering defensive performance in a 69-56 win over George Washington.

The Wildcats (4-0) held the Colonials (4-2) to 31 percent shooting and forced 13 turnovers.

Freshman forward Thomas Gipson led K-State with 17 points and 13 rebounds, and sophomore guard Will Spradling scored 14 points. Jamar Samuels added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

George Washington came in leading the nation in 3-point shooting at 48.6 percent, but made just 5 of 19 from beyond the arc. Senior guard Tony Taylor led the Colonials with 14 points on 5-of-14 shooting.

The Colonials actually led 34-33 early in the second half, but K-State went on a 16-3 run to break it open.

It was the first meeting between the teams in 71 years, when GW beat visiting K-State 43-25.
