Thomas Robinson scored a season-high 20 points and added 12 rebounds to lead No. 14 Kansas past Georgetown 67-63 in the first round of the Maui Invitational Tournament on Monday.

Tyshawn Taylor chipped in 16 points for the Jayhawks (2-1), who notched their first win over the Hoyas (2-1) in the first meeting between the perennial powerhouses since 1987.

Kansas will meet UCLA in Tuesday's semifinals in a game that will match the second and eighth-winningest programs in NCAA history. Georgetown will play Chaminade in the losers' bracket.

Georgetown, which was predicted to finish 10th in the Big East, was not fazed by the pro-Jayhawk crowd, managing to keep the game with a 10-point window with the Hoyas never trailing by more than nine points.

Kansas was able to hold Georgetown without a field goal for over eight minutes in the second half, which allowed the Jayhawks to turn a one-point deficit into a six-point advantage with 5:56 remaining.

After both teams traded baskets over the next five-plus minutes, Jason Clark nailed a 3-pointer to bring Georgetown with two points at 65-63, but Travis Releford hit a pair of free throws with 16 seconds remaining.

Clark missed a 3-point attempt on the following possession and after a scramble for the rebound, Kansas called a timeout and ran out the clock.

Clark paced the Hoyas with 15 points.
