Tennessee likely secured its spot in the NCAA tournament by squeaking past Arkansas 74-68 on Thursday in the first round of the SEC tournament in Atlanta.
Freshman Tobias Harris scored 20 points for the Volunteers (19-13), who will face Florida (24-6) in Friday’s quarterfinals.
Tennessee, which has played one of the nation’s toughest schedules, blew a 16-point, second-half lead as the Razorbacks stormed back behind Rotnei Clarke's 18 points.
Arkansas tied it at 68 with 2:08 remaining, but Brian Williams, the SEC’s Sixth Man of the Year, put the Vols ahead for good on a layup with 50 seconds to go.
Harris assisted on the layup to cap an outstanding performance in which he was 7 for 13 from the field. Williams had nine points and eight rebounds.
Delvon Johnson had 15 points and eight rebounds for Arkansas (18-13).
