Rob Jones had 18 points and 10 rebounds against his former team Wednesday and No. 21 Saint Mary’s extended its win streak to 11 with a 67-56 win over visiting San Diego.

Playing its first game as a ranked team in nearly two years, Saint Mary’s (17-2, 5-0 West Coast Conference) pulled away midway through the second half with a 17-6 run. Mickey McConnell scored 17 points and Matthew Dellavedova added 12 points and six rebounds for the Gaels.

Darian Norris scored 14 points to pace San Diego (3-16, 0-5), which started the second half with a 10-0 run to grab a surprising 33-30 lead. The Toreros have lost eight of their last nine games, including six straight.

Matt Dorr scored 13 and Ken Rancifer and Chris Gabriel each added nine for the Toreros, who shot just 20 of 53 (37.7 percent) from the field. Chris Manresa led San Diego with 10 rebounds.

Jones, who played his first two years at San Diego before transferring to Saint Mary’s, was 8 of 13 from the field with two 3-pointers against his former team. The win was Saint Mary’s coach Randy Bennett’s 200th as a head coach.

A perfect 11-0 at McKeon Pavilion, Saint Mary’s begins a challenging three-game road trip Saturday against Vanderbilt before visiting conference rivals Gonzaga on Jan. 27 and Portland on Jan. 29.
