Fredette fell just two points shy of his career high while leading BYU (17-1, 3-0 MWC) to its seventh straight victory. Fredette was 16 of 28 from the field, 6 of 9 from 3-point range and hit all nine free-throw attempts. Fredette’s career high of 49 points occurred last season against Arizona.

Jackson Emery added 20 points and was 5 of 7 from 3-point range as BYU made 14-of-24 3-point shots.

Will Clyburn scored 23 points and Josh Watkins had 19 points and seven assists for Utah (7-10, 0-3), which has lost seven straight games.

Fredette had 32 points in the first half, capping the splurge with a 45-foot buzzer-beating 3-point basket. Fredette was 10 of 15 from the field, including 5 of 6 from 3-point range, during the first 20 minutes.

His last basket of the contest raised his career point total to 2,001, making Fredette just the fourth player in BYU history to top the 2,000-point mark.

BYU was leading by just nine points with under 11 minutes to play before Noah Hartsock hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give BYU a 72-57 lead with 10:12 remaining. Emery made back-to-back 3s a short time later to boost BYU’s lead to 88-61 with 6:53 remaining.
