Tennessee found its rhythm from 3-point range Wednesday and routed No. 22 Memphis 104-84 in Knoxville.

The Volunteers (10-4), who came in tied for 294th in the nation in 3-point shooting, shot 12 of 21 on 3-pointers as they won for the third time in their past seven games.

It was a nice sendoff for Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl, who will begin serving an eight-game suspension when the Volunteers open Southeastern Conference play on Saturday at Arkansas.

Tennessee took control early against the Tigers, who had won four of their past five. The Volunteers used 3-pointers from Tobias Harris, Cameron Tatum and Scotty Hopson to build a 14-7 lead four minutes into the game. Up 14-10, the Volunteers blew it open with a 23-7 run as Trae Golden’s layup making it 37-17 with 7:44 left before halftime.

The Volunteers led 49-34 at halftime and by many as 36 in the second half.

Harris led Tennessee with 17 points, while Hopson scored 16.

Pearl is suspended from coaching SEC games through Feb. 5, as well as any activity or practice on game days, for violating NCAA rules and misleading investigators. Associate coach Tony Jones will fill in for Pearl.

Memphis (11-3), whose only prior losses were to No. 4 Kansas and No. 9 Georgetown, were led by Will Coleman’s 17 points. The Tigers open Conference USA play Saturday at home against East Carolina.
