Anatoly Bose scored a game-high 28 points, leading visiting Nicholls State past LSU 62-53 on Tuesday, snapping the Tigers' 82-game home winning streak against in-state schools.

Bose shot 8-of-20 from the field and 10-of-13 from the free-throw line to lead the Colonels, who also got 18 points and seven rebounds from Fred Hunter.

LSU led by as many as seven in the first half, but the Colonels (1-1) went on an 8-0 run midway through the second half and didn't trail again.

The Tigers scored more points (87) in a season-opening win against Northwestern State than in any game last season, but they were far less effective at the offensive end against Nicholls State.

LSU (1-1) shot 37.2 percent from the field and committed 18 turnovers.

Matt Derenbecker and Andre Stringer scored 14 apiece off the bench to lead LSU. Forward Storm Warren added eight points and 14 rebounds.

The Colonels had just eight turnovers and made eight of 10 free throws in the final 54 seconds to seal
