TORONTO -- The Indiana Pacers will have to wait at least one more night to punch their ticket to the postseason, and they have the Toronto Raptors' reserves to blame.

With four of their stars resting, Toronto rookie Norman Powell poured in a career-high 27 points as the Raptors won 111-98 Friday night, snapping Indiana's three-game win streak and keeping the Pacers (42-37) one victory, or a Chicago Bulls loss, from clinching a playoff spot.

"They came out and played harder than us," said Indiana forward Paul George, who scored 14 points before leaving the game in the fourth quarter after jamming the left ankle that has been bothering him. "There is nothing else to say."

George, who had his ankle in ice post-game and said it's too early to know if he'll be able to play Sunday at home against Brooklyn, said the playoff-bound Raptors resting all-stars DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry as well as Luis Scola and DeMarre Carroll should not have caused the Pacers to have a letdown.

"That's not an excuse for us," George said. "We're a better team that what was on that floor."

Powell, a 23-year-old shooting guard out of UCLA, made the most of DeRozan and Lowry's absence by driving the ball and getting to the free-throw line 19 times, hitting 14. He added five field goals, including three 3s, six rebounds and four assists as the Raptors (53-26) won for the fourth time in their last six.

"The team was just telling me to be aggressive out there with Kyle and DeMar resting, so I was just trying to attack the rim and draw fouls and get easy points," Powell said. "That's just how I play basketball, growing up that tough, physical basketball, not being afraid of anybody or contact."

Fellow Toronto rookie Delon Wright also had a career-high scoring performance with 19 points while Cory Joseph made the most of a rare start with 18 points on 6-for-6 shooting from the field, including two 3-pointers, and nine assists.

"It feels good to finally get out there and play when Kyle rests," Wright said. "I think he skipped out on three games and we didn't win, so it's most important to try and win when he doesn't play."

Monta Ellis led the way for the Pacers with 17 points while Solomon Hill added 16 and Lavoy Allen chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Leading 50-46 at halftime, Toronto took charge in the third quarter. The Raptors opened the second half on an 11-5 run, stretching the lead to as high as 18 points in the period, ending it up 82-66.

The Raptors hit six 3s in the third quarter as both Joseph and Jason Thompson went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and Toronto outscored the Pacers 32-20 in the period to blow the game open.

"We didn't play well enough, we weren't sharp in any area," said Indiana head coach Frank Vogel. "I don't think we respected the guys that were out there and we didn't bring a high enough level.

"The players that played for them are good players. They are not as big of names as the guys that play regularly but they are good players. We wouldn't have beaten anyone tonight."
