NEW YORK -- Kemba Walker struggled all night, but it did not prevent the Charlotte Hornets from getting another win.

The Hornets were able to compensate for Walker's off night because they had Nicolas Batum and Jeremy Lin making plays in the fourth quarter.

Batum scored 23 points and Lin added 21 as the Hornets survived blowing a 17-point lead and held on for a 105-100 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday.

The Hornets won for the 11th time in 13 games and the second straight night.

Walker scored six points on 2-of-11 shooting Monday when Charlotte came back from a 22-point deficit to beat the San Antonio Spurs. A night later, Walker had 14 points on only 4-of-14 shooting from the field, but again the Hornets got significant contributions from Batum and Lin, who were not on the team last season.

Batum and Lin combined for 20 points in the fourth when things became dicey for the Hornets. The duo made 15 of 28 shots from the field, including six of eight in the final 12 minutes.

"I think (Batum) is just confident. He made Jeremy play really well again tonight," Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said. "Nicolas really made the plays with the game on the line. When we needed him, he really made the big plays."

Those showings came after Batum and Lin combined for 44 points Monday on 16-of-27 shooting.

"We're just a great team overall," Hornets center Al Jefferson said. "We know Kemba is our heart. Nic is another one of our scoring guys. Sometimes guys are going to (struggle). I think that's what it's going to take to reach our goal."

Charlotte was in control most of the night after grabbing the lead in the game's opening minutes. The Hornets held a 17-point advantage about four minutes into the third but saw it whittled to 67-64 entering the fourth.

Charlotte briefly gave up the lead on two occasions early in the fourth before hiking it up to 11 twice. Lin scored seven points during a 10-0 run early in the quarter, while Batum had 11 points in the final 4:23.

Batum completed a four-point play with 4:23 left for a 96-88 lead, added a 3-pointer at the 2:44 mark for a 96-88 edge and knocked down a fadeaway with 1:37 remaining for a 98-92 lead.

"I got this freedom on this team right now to be able to have the ball in my hands (late in games) to take a shot, and that's a new thing for me," Batum said. "And I like it."

Still, those shots almost were not enough.

The Hornets saw the lead sliced to 98-97 when Brooklyn's Bojan Bogdanovic drove for a layup with 50.1 seconds left, but Charlotte iced the game at the line as Walker, Lin and Batum hit seven free throws while the Nets missed four consecutive 3-point attempts.

"I think it really just came down to them making shots and we didn't," Nets center Brook Lopez said. "We got some good looks, and ours just didn't go down. It was unfortunate that we put ourselves in a hole in the beginning of the game."

Lopez helped the Nets' comeback by scoring 10 of his 29 points in the fourth. Sean Kilpatrick added a career-best 25 points, but it was not enough as Brooklyn lost for the ninth time in 11 games. The Nets couldn't overcome their sub-par play for most of the first three quarters.

"Unfortunately, we don't have enough guys pulling the rope in that direction, and it's frustrating because I know they can do better," Nets interim coach Tony Brown said. "But I'm in a point in this season where I'm just going to play the guys that want to play more spirited basketball, and I can't sit and watch guys not give 100 percent and make the same mistakes that we do."

NOTES: Charlotte F Marvin Williams missed a game for the first time this season with a sprained left ankle. Coach Steve Clifford said he hopes Williams will return Friday. Williams missed his first game since Jan. 31, 2015, and rookie Frank Kaminsky scored 10 of his 14 points in the first quarter in his first career start in the frontcourt. ... Brooklyn rookie G/F Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was active for the first time since fracturing his right ankle in practice Dec. 5. He scored five points in 15 minutes. Hollis-Jefferson had surgery on the ankle, but before giving him minutes in a game, Nets interim coach Tony Brown said he needed to see Hollis-Jefferson get through practices without becoming fatigued. ... The Nets will unveil logos and uniforms for their NBA Development League affiliate on Thursday. The Long Island Nets will play at Barclays Center next year and eventually will move to a renovated Nassau Coliseum.
