NEW ORLEANS -- Guard Chris Paul shook off a miserable shooting night to nail a 17-foot fadeaway jumper with a minute left, lifting the Los Angeles Clippers to a 95-89 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night at the Smoothie King Center.

Paul was just 2-for-17 from the floor when he canned the jumper over forward Alonzo Gee to put the Clippers on top 90-87. Paul finished 3-for-18 for nine points, but he had 12 assists.

The Pelicans cut the deficit to 90-89 on guard Jrue Holiday's foul-line jumper with 53.9 seconds to go. However, guard Jamal Crawford made a jumper in the lane to give the Clippers a 92-89 lead with 35 seconds left.

The Clippers (21-13) completed a sweep of a five-game road trip for the first time in franchise history. They were led by guard J.J. Redick, who scored 17 of his game-high 26 points in the first half, and center DeAndre Jordan, who scored 11 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.

The Pelicans (10-22) were led by forward Ryan Anderson with 17 points, guard Norris Cole with 15 points, and forward Anthony Davis with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Redick scored seven third-quarter points as the Clippers built a 71-63 lead, holding the Pelicans to 15 points in the period. Redick canned a 3-pointer and a 20-foot jumper from the left wing on consecutive possessions. At that point, he was 9-for-13 from the field, and the rest of the Clippers were 13-for-46 (28.3 percent).

The Clippers took their biggest lead of the game, 76-65, on a layup by center Cole Aldrich with 10:40 left, but the Pelicans roared back with a 13-2 surge to tie the game, 78-78, with 6:54 left. Anderson led the way with seven points in the run.

Paul, who missed 14 of his first 15 shots, sonly his second basket of the game -- a 12-footer on the right side of the lane -- to put Los Angeles up 82-80 with 5:03 left. Jordan then rebounded a Paul miss for a follow that gave the Clippers an 84-80 lead at 3:36.

New Orleans then outscored Los Angeles 7-2 to take an 87-86 lead with 1:48 left. Guard Tyreke Evans got the go-ahead points with a driving layup on Redick and a follow-up foul shot.

Crawford responded with a 16-foot jumper to put the Clippers back on top, 88-87.
