NEW ORLEANS -- Except for the undefeated Golden State Warriors, the NBA is an amnesia league, with one game usually having little correlation to the next.

No one knows that better than New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans.

After going scoreless in one of the worst games of his professional career on Monday night in an ugly, 18-point home loss to the Celtics, Evans rebounded in a huge way Friday night by scoring a game-high 27 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, to lift the Pelicans to a 107-105 victory over the Washington Wizards at the Smoothie King Center.

Forward Anthony Davis (18 points and 11 rebounds) put the Pelicans ahead for good with a 3-pointer that rattled around and went in and a foul shot on New Orleanss' next possession, but this was Evans' game to win, and he did it uncharacteristically from the perimeter four nights after going 0-of-5 from the floor and committing five turnovers.

With the Wizards mostly diving under screens to give him shooting space, Evans nailed three of his long-range jumpers in the fourth quarter when the Pelicans (6-16) battled back to erase a 97-90 deficit with 6:52 left.

"I'm just trying to get my legs," said Evans, who missed nearly two months while rehabbing from arthroscopic knee surgery. "Yesterday at practice I was talking about just shooting it the same way. I got tired a little bit, but I still trying to find a way to maintain and keep my legs under me. Hopefully by the 10th game (back) I'll be good. I'm still pushing for my teammates and trying to go hard every night."

The Pelicans made a franchise-record 16 3-pointers on 27 attempts (59.3 percent), and they needed every one to overcome guard John Wall's 26 points and 12 assists.

"We did need every one of them," New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry said. "If they are available, we want to take them, and with good ball movement, it will make them available to us because of the drive-and-kick offense."

Point guard Jrue Holiday made 5 of 7 from 3-point range on his way to 19 points off the bench, and guard Eric Gordon, also held scoreless against the Celtics, had three 3-pointers to finish with 15 points.

The Pelicans trailed 97-90 with 6:58 left when they went to a four-guard lineup. Evans, Gordon, Holiday and backup point guard Ish Smith played with Davis and it paid dividends.

Davis' free throw with 1:47 left gave the Pelicans a 104-103 lead. Evans missed a driving layup with 32 seconds left. Wall tried to regain the lead for Washington, but his 17-foot jumper over Alonzo Gee failed to go, and Gordon was fouled on the rebound and made two free throws to build New Orleans' lead to 106-103 with 18.1 seconds left.

Wall made it 106-105 at 10.9 with a layup off an inbounds pass. On New Orleans' next possession, Holiday was tied up for a jump ball but won the tip against forward Jared Dudley. Evans made only one of two foul shots, giving the Pelicans a 107-105 lead with 4.7 seconds left.

Washington had one last possession, inbounding on the New Orleans end. The Pelicans had a defensive lapse, but guard Gary Neal missed an open 18-foot jumper at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime. The Wizards fell to 9-12.

"They went small and started switching everything and we became a little stagnant," Washington coach Randy Wittman said. "But we had some good looks that didn't go in down the stretch."

The Wizards had a late scratch when leading scorer Bradley Beal, averaging 19.9 points a game, could not play because of tightness in his lower leg.

"We want to make sure about what's going on," Wittman said. "He woke up this morning and thought it was just tightness, and we waited until we got over there to see if it would loosen up. He's got a little soreness there. We're going to get some tests done tomorrow. It's precautionary."

The Pelicans trailed 86-77 with 10 minutes left, but Evans connected on consecutive 3-pointers to cut the Washington lead to 87-85 with 8:56 left.

"That's our Achilles heel, teams that shoot a high percentage of threes," Dudley said. "We have to figure that out. They just hit us in so many different ways."

NOTES: Pelicans F Ryan Anderson, the NBA's highest-scoring sixth man, missed the game with flu-like symptoms. Anderson's name has come up in trade talks recently. He averages 18.0 points, including 37.6 percent shooting on three-pointers, and 7.0 rebounds a game. ... After his starting backcourt of Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans was outscored 33-0 against Boston?on Monday night, New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry said he may have to tweak his up-tempo offensive philosophy. "We still want to be a running team, but sometimes you may have to have a few set plays that you would normally not have," Gentry said ... Washington started a four-game road trip. "We are a confident road team and have played well on the road this season (now 5-5)," said Wizards coach Randy Wittman." ... F Kris Humphries (sprained left ankle) did not play.
