Heat 109, Pistons 102: Dwyane Wade scored 19 of his 40 points - two shy of his season high - in the fourth quarter as host Miami got one step closer to the postseason.

Udonis Haslem posted season highs of 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Heat, who are 1 1/2 games ahead of eighth seed Brooklyn and two games ahead of Boston and Indiana in the Eastern Conference. James Ennis tied his rookie high with 16 points as Miami triumphed despite losing both Luol Deng (knee) and Michael Beasley (elbow) to injuries during the contest.

Andre Drummond scored a season-high 32 points on 14-of-17 shooting and added 14 rebounds for the Pistons, who had a four-game win streak snapped. Reggie Jackson scored 31 points on 12-of-17 shooting and added nine assists, but players other than Drummond and Jackson combined to shoot 14-of-49 from the field.

Jackson and Drummond combined for 18 points in the first quarter as Detroit jumped to a seven-point lead, but the Heat went on a 17-2 run to take a 34-27 lead with just over seven minutes left in the half. Ennis drained a pair of 3-pointers in the first two minutes of the third, and Wade and Haslem added two hoops apiece shortly thereafter as Miami pushed a five-point halftime lead to 17 with 4 1/2 minutes left in the third.

Jodie Meeks hit two 3-pointers as the Pistons scored 13 straight to pull within 71-67 just 16 ticks into the fourth, but Wade scored three hoops and Mario Chalmers and Henry Walker knocked down shots from the arc that restored a 12-point lead with nine minutes left. Wade converted a three-point play after Detroit pulled within eight and hit two free throws when the Pistons got as close as seven with 3 1/2 minutes left as the Heat won for the eighth time in their last nine home games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Heat C Hassan Whiteside (hand) and C Chris Andersen (calf) each missed their third straight games. .. Drummond has 41 double-doubles this season, fourth most in the NBA. …Wade, who set a Heat record for most points in one game against the Pistons, was limited to just 13 points in 21 minutes in a 99-86 loss to Atlanta on Friday after missing the previous game with a swollen left knee.
