The teams combined to shoot 34.8 percent in the first half, which Philadelphia ended with a 9-2 run to take a 47-42 lead into the break. Porter's three-point play capped Washington's 11-0 burst out of the locker room, but the 76ers answered with their own surge and a late 3-pointer by Hollis Thompson put the hosts up 63-61 entering the fourth.

The Wizards went the first 2:44 of the final period without a point and a flagrant foul called on Wall helped Philadelphia build a 69-61 advantage, but Sessions later had five straight points and Porter buried a 3-pointer to get Washington within 74-73 with 4:36 left. Richardson knocked down a triple and Noel had a pair of dunks for an 83-76 lead with under two minutes to go, and a runner by Ish Smith in the final minute helped provide a safe cushion.
