Timberwolves 90, Grizzlies 89:
Ricky Rubio scored eight of his 17 points in the final 1:47 as host Minnesota rallied to end Memphis’s eight-game winning streak.

Andrew Wiggins led the Timberwolves with 18 points and Thaddeus Young added 14 points and eight rebounds for Minnesota, which beat a team with a winning record for the second time this season. Nikola Pekovic added 13 points and Kevin Martin finished with 11 for the Timberwolves.

Marc Gasol, Jeff Green and Mike Conley scored 15 points apiece for the Grizzlies, with Conley getting 13 of his points in the second half. Courtney Lee added 14 points while Zach Randolph was held to a season-low six points after going scoreless in the first half.

Minnesota trailed by seven with just under two minutes left when Rubio drilled a 3-pointer and then hit another from beyond the arc to pull the Timberwolves within one with 34 seconds on the clock. Rubio then stole the ball from Randolph, was fouled and made both free throws with 10 seconds on the clock before adding another steal seconds later to help seal the win.

Minnesota led by as many as 10 in the second quarter but managed just six points in the final eight minutes of the opening half and Memphis was able to knot the score at 43 at the break. The Timberwolves sped back out to a seven-point advantage in the first three minutes of the second half, but the Grizzlies ended the surge there and eventually moved ahead by four points entering the final quarter.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Timberwolves have won two in a row for the first time since last April, when they knocked off the Grizzlies and Miami Heat in back-to-back games. … Minnesota G Shabazz Muhammad missed his 15th straight game with a strained oblique but coach Flip Saunders is aiming for a Monday return at the Atlanta Hawks. … Memphis was without backup F/G Vince Carter, who missed his second straight game with a left foot injury.
