Suns 106, Wizards 98: Goran Dragic scored 20 points as Phoenix grabbed an early lead and held on against visiting Washington.

Isaiah Thomas added 18 points off the bench and Markieff Morris finished with 16 points and seven rebounds for the Suns, who were playing the seventh game of a franchise-record eight-game homestand. Brandan Wright added 13 points and P.J. Tucker finished with 12 for Phoenix, which swept the season series for the first time since 2010-11.

Marcin Gortat had 14 points and eight rebounds and Otto Porter Jr. scored 14 points off the bench to lead Washington. Bradley Beal added 13 points, John Wall finished with 11 and Kris Humphries contributed 11 points and 15 rebounds for the Wizards.

The Wizards were coming off two tough road victories in the previous three days and the wear and tear began to show with about four minutes left in the first period, when Phoenix closed with a 13-2 run to take a 29-17 advantage into the second frame. Washington scored four of the first five points to start the second quarter and pulled within single digits but that lasted 16 seconds before Thomas put them behind by double figures for the remainder of the half with a 3-pointer.

The Wizards were still within striking distance until they went scoreless for nearly four minutes and the Suns expanded the advantage to 22 on a three-point play by Gerald Green with 5:54 left in the first half. Washington managed to get back within 17 at the break and a 16-6 run to start the third quarter pulled them within five but the Suns came back with a pair of 8-0 runs.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wright has scored points for three different teams against the Wizards this season; the Suns, Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks … Phoenix came in as the second-best free-throw shooting team in the NBA at 78.9 percent and the Suns shot 15-for-18. … The reserves for the Suns outscored Washington’s 42-40.
