Carmelo Anthony scored 13 of his 27 points during a six-minute span bridging the second and third quarters and visiting New York held off a late rally by Philadelphia.

Anthony shot just 8-of-24 from the field but added 11 rebounds and three steals and Jose Calderon had 15 points and seven assists for the Knicks, who have won two in a row after losing a franchise-record 16 consecutive contests. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 13 points off the bench as the Knicks snapped an eight-game road skid and improved to 3-19 away from Madison Square Garden.

Michael Carter-Williams had 27 points, seven assists and five steals for the 76ers, who played without Nerlens Noel (illness) in addition to the continued absence of Tony Wroten (knee) and Luc Richard Mbah a Monte (knee). Robert Covington had 17 points and Henry Sims added 11 and 12 rebounds as Philadelphia dropped its third straight and fifth in six games.

The Knicks held Philadelphia to two field goals over the last five minutes of the first half and Anthony scored seven points as New York turned a 33-31 deficit into a 49-42 edge at the half. Anthony drained consecutive 3-pointers to open the third to expand the edge to 13 and the Knicks led 74-62 entering the fourth.

Carter-Williams sparked a 13-4 run to open the fourth with six points as Philadelphia pulled within 78-75 with seven minutes left, but Anthony responded with a jumper. The star added a pair of free throws three minutes later just before Lou Amundson followed a miss by Anthony for an 89-81 lead with 3:21 to play, and Anthony made four free throws down the stretch to hold off the Sixers.
