Cavaliers 126, Clippers 121: Kyrie Irving scored 37 points and made five 3-pointers and LeBron James had 32 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists as visiting Cleveland defeated Los Angeles.

Tristan Thompson scored a season-best 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting and collected 12 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who played without power forward Kevin Love (back). Timofey Mozgov added 12 points as Cleveland won its second straight game after losing eight of its previous nine.

Blake Griffin had 34 points and 10 rebounds and DeAndre Jordan added 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Clippers. Matt Barnes scored 17 points, Chris Paul had 15 points and 14 assists, J.J. Redick added 14 points and Jamal Crawford finished with 13.

The Cavaliers trailed by three early in the fourth quarter before going on a 20-7 run, capped by James’ 3-pointer to take a 117-107 lead. Los Angeles moved within four on Paul’s jumper with 1:01 to play before Thompson converted a three-point play with 46.4 seconds remaining but the Clippers rallied within 123-121 on Paul’s layup with 11.1 seconds left prior to Matthew Dellavedova sinking two three throws with nine seconds on the clock to seal it.

The Clippers trailed by seven points midway through the second quarter before closing strong to take a 64-61 halftime lead. Los Angeles used an 11-2 run to take an 82-74 lead with 5:45 left in the third quarter and led by nine later in the period before the Cavaliers closed within 95-92 entering the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: James, 30, became the youngest player to surpass 24,000 career points when he hit a 3-pointer with 4:35 remaining. … G Austin Rivers, son of Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers, made his team debut and was scoreless on 0-of-4 shooting in 12 minutes. … Redick (four) and Barnes (three) combined for seven of the Clippers’ 10 3-point baskets.
