Warriors 112, Cavaliers 94: Klay Thompson scored 24 points and Stephen Curry collected 23 points and 10 assists as Golden State pushed past visiting Cleveland.
Draymond Green recorded 10 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks for the Warriors, who won their 14th straight home game to pull within one of matching the franchise record set in 1989-90. Justin Holiday scored 14 off the bench and Marreese Speights had 12 points and eight assists as Golden State won its sixth straight overall.
J.R. Smith, who went scoreless in his team debut on Wednesday, scored 27 points to lead the LeBron James-less Cavaliers. Kyrie Irving added 23 points and Kevin Love collected 17 points and 14 rebounds as Cleveland dropped its fourth straight.
The Cavaliers pulled within five points just past the midway point of the fourth quarter but went over four minutes without a field goal as the Warriors pushed the lead out to 105-92. Irving ended Cleveland’s drought with a jumper but Curry found Andre Iguodala for a 3-pointer and crashed into the lane for a basket as Golden State put it away.
The Warriors ended the first half with a 14-6 burst highlighted by 3-pointers from Curry and Thompson to take a 60-54 lead into the break. The Cavaliers went up 66-64 with 5:39 left in the third but Curry scored the first five of an 11-0 run and Golden State took an 84-76 advantage into the final stanza.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Thompson got hit in the face by Smith and suffered a cut on his forehead with 3:27 left in the third and went immediately to the locker room for seven stitches before returning in the fourth quarter. … Thompson knocked down four 3-pointers and has 645 in his career, passing Curry (644) for the NBA record for a player in his first four seasons. … Cleveland C Timofey Mozgov made his team debut and recorded nine points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench.
