Brandon Jennings had 14 points and six assists and Jodie Meeks added 11 points off the bench for the Pistons, who went 10-for-21 from 3-point range. Detroit has not lost since waiving free-agent bust Josh Smith on Dec. 22 after going 5-23 with Smith on the roster.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 19 points and Monta Ellis added 16 for the Mavericks, who had a six-game winning streak halted. Chandler Parsons contributed 15 points, Devin Harris scored 14 off the bench and Tyson Chandler finished with nine points and 15 rebounds for Dallas.

Augustin took over in the fourth quarter, converting a three-point play to make it a nine-point advantage and answering a 5-0 Dallas spurt with back-to-back 3-pointers to push Detroit's lead to 87-77 at the 7:22 mark. After a Parsons 3-pointer briefly brought the Mavericks back within single digits, Augustin exploded for eight straight Pistons points during a 13-5 burst as Detroit pulled away.

The Pistons led by as many as eight in the first half before settling for a 54-49 advantage at the break thanks to Monroe's tip-in at the buzzer. Detroit had the margin out to nine points early in the third quarter and Jennings scored at the end of the period to make it 74-68 going to the fourth.
