Bulls 114, Rockets 105: Pau Gasol had 27 points and 14 rebounds and Jimmy Butler scored 22 points as host Chicago knocked off Houston.

Derrick Rose had 19 points and nine assists and Nikola Mirotic added 17 points for the Bulls, who outscored the Rockets 31-16 in the fourth quarter. Joakim Noah collected eight points and 10 rebounds and matched a season high with six blocked shots and Chicago was 27-of-30 from the free-throw line.

Josh Smith scored 21 points off the bench and James Harden added 20 for Houston, which was 6-of-23 from the field in the final 12 minutes. Donatas Motiejunas scored 16 points, Patrick Beverley had 14 and Dwight Howard contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The Rockets had a 98-90 lead after Motiejunas’ basket with 7:43 left before the Bulls went on a 12-2 burst and took a 102-100 edge on two free throws by Gasol with 2:56 to play. Houston went back ahead on Smith’s 3-pointer with 1:46 to play before Chicago rolled off the next eight, capped by Mirotic’s 3-pointer to make it 110-103 with 39 seconds left.

The contest was tied at 62 at the half as the Bulls shot 57.8 percent and Houston hit 55.8 percent of its shots. Chicago used an 11-0 burst in the third quarter to take three-point edge on Rose’s 3-pointer with 4:13 remaining before the Rockets closed with a 14-5 spurt to take an 89-83 advantage into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rose was 6-of-17 shooting and is 25-of-95 over the last five games. … Houston shot 36 percent in the second half when Harden had three points. … Chicago SF Mike Dunleavy (ankle) missed his second straight contest.
