Brook Lopez and Deron Williams scored 16 points apiece off the bench for Brooklyn, which returned to .500 (16-16) for the first time since it was 4-4. Joe Johnson chipped in 14 points as the Nets survived a woeful fourth quarter in which they were outscored 37-14.

Victor Oladipo led seven players in double figures with 17 points for the Magic, who have lost three straight at home. Rookie Elfrid Payton finished with 16 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds and three steals but missed a pair of key free throws in the closing moments.

After Alan Anderson's 3-pointer with 8:16 left put the Nets up 95-71, they went nearly six minutes without a point while Ben Gordon scored 11 straight to key the charge for Orlando, which pulled within 97-93 with under two minutes to go after Channing Frye and Evan Fournier hit back-to-back 3s. Payton was 2-of-4 from the line to get the deficit down to 98-95, but Johnson made a pair of free throws and the Magic had a turnover and three missed shots in the final minute before Payton's 3-pointer in the final seconds ended the scoring.

Frye beat the buzzer to give Orlando a 25-22 lead after one quarter before Williams took over, scoring 10 points and handing out three assists in the second quarter alone to lift Brooklyn into the break up 52-40. The Nets scored the first five points of the second half and Kevin Garnett hit a rare 3-pointer during a 15-2 burst that helped the Nets build a game-high 26-point lead late in the third.
