Dirk Nowitzki scored 14 points to move into eighth on the all-time scoring list for the Mavericks, who won a franchise-best fifth straight against the Lakers. Tyson Chandler had 15 points and 12 rebounds as Dallas shot 50.6 percent from the field which helped offset 24 offensive rebounds by Los Angeles.

Carlos Boozer scored 18 points off the bench for the Lakers, who played a third straight game without star Kobe Bryant (rest). Nick Young scored 15 points and Wesley Johnson added 11 and 10 rebounds as Los Angeles shot just 36.4 percent but won the battle of the boards, 63-40.

Charlie Villanueva scored 10 points in less than a two-minute span - with two 3-pointers - to push a six-point lead to nine with 5:46 to play, and Dallas then pulled away when Rondo flipped in a runner, fed Chandler for a hoop and drained a 3-pointer after a Monta Ellis hoop that secured a 95-79 lead with under four minutes left. A late Lakers run that featured 3-pointers by Young and Wayne Ellington and was capped by Jordan Hill's slam dunk, pulled the Lakers within three with five seconds left.

Rondo scored 10 points and Dallas shot 56.8 percent from the floor in the first half, but the Lakers got 10 points from Boozer and held an 11-2 edge on the offensive glass to overcome 33.3 percent shooting and trail only 48-42 at the half. Parsons, Nowitzki and Rondo scored six apiece as Dallas pushed the edge to 15 in the third before settling for a 72-62 lead entering the fourth.
