Bulls 115, Trail Blazers 106: Derrick Rose scored a season-high 31 points as host Chicago beat Portland for its fifth win in the last seven games.

Reserve Aaron Brooks scored 12 of his 17 points in the final quarter and made 8-of-10 shots for the Bulls, who halted their seven-game losing streak against the Trail Blazers. Nikola Mirotic had 15 points and nine rebounds, Pau Gasol contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds for his eighth straight double-double and Taj Gibson had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Damian Lillard recorded season highs of 35 points and seven 3-pointers and LaMarcus Aldridge had 35 points and nine rebounds for the Trail Blazers, who lost their second straight game. Wesley Matthews with 10 points was the only other player in double figures as Portland lost to an Eastern Conference team for the first time in 11 matchups this season.

The Bulls had a 100-89 lead with 5:38 remaining after a basket by Brooks before Lillard scored Portland’s next eight points to trim Chicago’s lead to 104-97. Lillard hit his seventh 3-pointer to pull the Trail Blazers within 108-104 with 1:08 to play before Rose hit a jumper and Jimmy Butler hit two free throws as the Bulls finished off the win.

Aldridge scored 21 first-quarter points on 10-of-12 shooting but Chicago answered his final hoop of the period with a 19-2 burst to take 40-30 lead with 7:54 left in the first half. The Bulls held a 59-51 lead at the break before Portland cut its deficit to 82-78 entering the final stanza.
