Pelicans 106, Kings 100: Anthony Davis had 28 points and nine rebounds as visiting New Orleans owned the second half against Sacramento.

Sacramento-native Ryan Anderson added 22 points off the bench for the Pelicans, who had six turnovers compared to 15 for the Kings. Former King Tyreke Evans added 18 points, six rebounds and five assists in his return to Sacramento and Eric Gordon contributed a season-high 17 points for New Orleans.

DeMarcus Cousins had 24 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Kings. Jason Thompson scored 15 points for his first game in double digits this season, Rudy Gay also scored 15 and Darren Collison finished with 13 points and 11 assists for Sacramento.

The Kings trailed by 10 with 11 minutes remaining but cut the deficit to three two minutes later on a three-point play by Gay. That was as close as Sacramento would get until trimming the deficit back to three with 1:08 on the clock, but Evans sank an 8-footer and the Kings weren't able to get back within a possession.

Ben McLemore scored a layup on the first possession of the second half to give the Kings an 11-point lead, but Sacramento surrendered seven of the final nine points of the third quarter to fall behind 76-69. Sacramento was outscored 31-15 in the third quarter and did not record an assist during that span.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Pelicans were without starting C Omer Asik (sore lower back) for second consecutive game. … New Orleans came into Monday’s game against the Trail Blazers averaging an NBA-best 29.6 points in the third quarter and scored 31 in the third against both Portland and Sacramento. … The Kings came in leading the NBA in free throws attempted per game (35.1) and second in percentage (81.1) and shot 20-for-29 (69 percent).
