Warriors 111, Magic 96: Stephen Curry buried six 3-pointers and went 9-of-13 from the field en route to 28 points while adding eight assists as visiting Golden State streaked past Orlando.
Curry, who went 8-of-11 from 3-point range in a win over Miami on Tuesday, connected on his first six attempts from beyond the arc and finished 6-of-8 as the Warriors picked up their seventh straight win and extended the best start in franchise history to 12-2. Harrison Barnes added 16 points, Andrew Bogut had 12 rebounds and seven assists and Shaun Livingston scored a season-high 15 off the bench for Golden State.
Tobias Harris (calf) returned from a one-game absence and recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Magic, who have dropped three straight. Victor Oladipo struggled to 12 points on 4-of-17 shooting and Nikola Vucevic added 11 points and 13 boards for Orlando.
The Warriors hit their first five field-goal attempts to jump out to a 10-0 lead and Curry buried four 3-pointers in the first quarter but the Magic battled back to pull ahead 38-36 three minutes into the second. Barnes responded with a 3-pointer and Andre Iguodala and Curry each connected from beyond the arc in a 25-7 surge that put Golden State in front for good.
The Warriors were ahead 65-52 at the half and Curry’s sixth 3-pointer extended the lead to 20 points five minutes into the third. Golden State closed the period with a 10-2 surge to make it a 27-point margin heading to the fourth before coasting to the finish.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Warriors improved to 3-0 on their five-game trip and are 7-1 on the road overall. … Iguodala (728) went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc to move past Golden State coach Steve Kerr (726) on the all-time list of made 3-pointers. … Magic Gs Ben Gordon and Elfrid Payton each scored 13 points off the bench.
