Raptors 103, Wizards 84: DeMar DeRozan scored 25 points as host Toronto downed Washington to improve to 5-1 for the first time in franchise history.
Kyle Lowry recorded a triple-double by notching 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists while Terrence Ross added 18 points for the Raptors, who have won three games in a row. Lou Williams chipped in with 13 points off the bench for Toronto, which led from start to finish.
Otto Porter Jr. led the way with 13 points while Kris Humphries scored 11 for the Wizards, who shot 36.1 percent from the field. John Wall was held to a season-low eight points but dished out seven assists while Marcin Gortat grabbed 10 rebounds for Washington, which finished 3-of-19 from beyond the arc.
Ross hit his first three 3-pointers to help the Raptors jump ahead 28-18 and Williams keyed an 18-3 run in the second quarter to push the lead to 23. DeRozan led all scorers with 15 first-half points as Toronto held Washington to 27.9 percent shooting to take a 59-35 advantage into the break.
Wall nailed a triple as the Wizards closed within 69-53 before James Johnson replied with a 3-pointer of his own late in the third quarter to restore the Raptors' 24-point cushion. Jonas Valanciunas hit a runner to put Toronto on top 90-70 as the Raptors went on to secure their third straight victory at the Air Canada Centre.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Raptors have won five of the last six matchups with the Wizards. … Toronto F Amir Johnson scored six points to go along with seven rebounds before leaving the game in the third quarter with a nagging ankle injury. … Washington SF Paul Pierce went 3-of-11 from the field after finishing 3-of-15 versus Indiana on Wednesday.
