Timberwolves 108, Kings 97: Kevin Martin returned from a seven-game absence and poured in 26 points as visiting Minnesota worked past Sacramento.

Kevin Love collected 22 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Timberwolves, ending his string of six straight games with at least 30 points and 10 boards. Nikola Pekovic came back from a 13-game layoff due to an ankle injury and contributed 20 points and nine rebounds for Minnesota.

Rudy Gay scored 24 points while DeMarcus Cousins recorded 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Kings. Isaiah Thomas added 22 points and eight assists for Sacramento.

The Timberwolves held a 10-point lead midway through the fourth quarter before the Kings went on a 12-4 run to pull within 97-95 with 2:09 to play. Pekovic hit a pair of free throws to restore the two-possession advantage and Ricky Rubio stole the ball from Cousins and buried a 3-pointer to help seal the win.

Martin, who was out with a thumb injury, put up 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the first half but Minnesota still went into the break trailing 56-53. Corey Brewer scored six points during a 9-0 burst beginning the third to give the Timberwolves the lead, and it would swell to 84-70 heading into the fourth quarter.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cousins, who was returning from a one-game suspension for punching Houston G Patrick Beverley, picked up five of Sacramento’s 28 personal fouls as the Timberwolves went 29-of-38 from the free-throw line. … The Kings committed 19 turnovers, leading to 27 points. … Love’s streak of 11 straight with at least 25 points and 10 boards also came to its conclusion in a 4-of-12 shooting effort.
