Wizards 96, Cavaliers 83: John Wall scored 21 points and dished out a game-high nine assists to lead visiting Washington over Cleveland.

Bradley Beal added 17 points, five rebounds and two steals for the Wizards, who have won three straight games. Trevor Ariza registered 15 points and 10 rebounds while Marcin Gortat pitched in with 13 points and a game-high 13 boards for Washington.

Luol Deng had 17 points to lead the Cavaliers, who fell for the second straight game following a season-high six-game winning streak. Spencer Hawes racked up 16 points and 12 rebounds in his second game since joining Cleveland in a deadline day deal with Philadelphia and Kyrie Irving contributed 15 points and five assists.

The Cavaliers whittled a six-point halftime deficit to 73-72 late in the third quarter before Al Harrington scored five straight points to give the Wizards a 78-72 lead entering the fourth. Cleveland shot itself in the foot before any real comeback effort could begin, making 4-of-18 from the field in the final frame while committing six turnovers as Washington put the game away.

The opening stanza was a back-and-forth affair as Cleveland answered an opening 8-2 push from Washington with 11 straight points, only to yield 15 of the next 19 points as the Wizards ended the period with a 30-27 advantage. The game remained tight throughout the first half and after Hawes struck from behind the arc to tie the game at 52-52 with 33.9 seconds left until halftime, Wall closed the second quarter with consecutive 3-pointers to send Washington into the break up 58-52.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington has beaten Cleveland twice in the last three meetings following a streak of four straight for the Cavaliers. ... Cleveland totaled 13 turnovers leading to 18 Washington points. ... Wizards F Nene (knee) left the game midway through the third quarter and did not return, finishing with eight points in 21 minutes.
