Rudy Gay added 24 points and 10 rebounds against his former team and Isaiah Thomas scored 23 points for the Kings, who had dropped seven straight prior to the modest positive streak. Marcus Thornton contributed 12 points and Jason Thompson had 10 rebounds to go along with nine points for Sacramento.

Kyle Lowry recorded 21 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for the Raptors, who dropped to 2-2 on their five-game road trip when a fourth-quarter rally fell short. DeMar DeRozan added 18 points and Patrick Patterson, who came over to Toronto as part of the Gay trade, chipped in 14 off the bench against his former club.

The Kings took a 20-point lead into the fourth quarter and pushed it up to 22 early in the period before the Raptors began clawing their way back. Steve Novak hit three 3-pointers and Greivis Vasquez added another in a 19-2 burst that chopped the deficit to 98-93 with 3:15 left before Cousins converted a short jumper and Gay hit a pair of free throws to help fight off the rally.

Sacramento built up a 67-52 advantage at the half on the strength of a 23-of-28 effort from the free-throw line in the first 24 minutes. The Kings began the third quarter with an 8-2 spurt to push the lead to 21 points and Gay scored four of the final five points in the frame to make it 92-72 heading to the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Vasquez and John Salmons - two more pieces of the Rudy Gay trade - combined to go 1-of-8 from the field in their first trip back to Sacramento. … Lowry was whistled for an offensive foul with 25 seconds left and did not agree, arguing with officials before being ejected. … Thornton left the game late in the second quarter after sustaining hip and knee injuries on a hard fall and did not return.
