Grizzlies 99, Kings 89: Mike Conley collected 27 points and 10 assists as visiting Memphis recorded its fifth straight road win by knocking off Sacramento.

Zach Randolph added 18 points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Grizzlies, who have won nine of their last 10 games overall. Marc Gasol celebrated his 29th birthday by contributing 12 points, five assists and a pair of blocks while Mike Miller chipped in 11 points for Memphis, which shot 54.7 percent.

Isaiah Thomas had a team-high 24 points for Sacramento, which lost its fifth consecutive game. Rudy Gay returned from an Achilles injury that cost him three games and contributed 23 points and five assists for the Kings, who were without center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) for the fourth straight game.

Memphis edged Sacramento by a point in each of the opening two quarters, riding eight points from Gasol and seven each from Conley, Miller and Randolph to a 48-46 lead at halftime. Gay and Thomas accounted for more than half of the first half offense for the Kings, who shot 43.5 percent before intermission but kept it close by turning seven Grizzlies turnovers into 10 points.

Back-to-back jumpers from Conley helped Memphis close the third quarter on a 10-2 run to enter the final frame with a 69-63 advantage. Sacramento nearly erased what became a 10-point advantage for the Grizzlies in the fourth, using a 13-6 run led by a combined nine points from Gay and Thomas to pull within 88-85 with 3:11 to play before Tayshaun Prince scored six points as part of a 9-2 spurt that put the game away for Memphis.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Memphis took its seventh straight decision over the Kings, winning in Sacramento for the fourth consecutive visit. ... Thomas shot 4-of-10 from 3-point range, one game after seeing his streak of consecutive games with at least one make from behind the arc end at 37. ... The Grizzlies improved to 14-5 since falling to five games under .500 and pulled to within a half-game of Dallas for the Western Conference's eighth and final playoff spot.
