Pelicans 100, Cavaliers 89: Anthony Davis tallied 30 points, eight blocked shots and seven rebounds to power visiting New Orleans to its sixth win in the last seven meetings with Cleveland.
Eric Gordon scored 20 points and recorded a season-best nine assists to go with seven rebounds for the Pelicans, who matched their longest winning streak of the season with a third straight victory. Brian Roberts and Al-Farouq Aminu added 12 points apiece.
Kyrie Irving scored 23 points and Dion Waiters added 21 for the Cavaliers, who ended their five-game homestand with just one victory. Anthony Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in last year's draft, scored a career-high 15 points and matched his career-best with eight rebounds, and Tyler Zeller chipped in 13 points and 10 boards.
Cleveland led throughout the first quarter and for more than half of the second, but the momentum shifted when Waiters was called for a clear path foul on Gordon, who knocked down both free throws and hit a jumper on the ensuing possession to give New Orleans its first lead. That exchange was the key sequence in a 16-0 run over the final 5:24 of the half as the Pelicans took a 56-44 halftime lead.
The Cavaliers never recovered, as New Orleans continued its hot shooting and stretched the margin to 83-65 through three quarters. The final margin was the closest Cleveland got in the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cavaliers C Anderson Varejao sat out with a sore knee. … Davis has recorded four or more blocks in five straight games, tying Alonzo Mourning's franchise record. … Cleveland SF Luol Deng was limited to six points on 3-of-10 shooting, his lowest scoring output in 10 games since being acquired from Chicago.
