Wizards 101, Suns 95: Trevor Ariza led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds as visiting Washington came through in the second half to knock off Phoenix.

John Wall added 18 points and 12 assists and Bradley Beal had 17 points and four steals for the Wizards, who pushed back to .500 at 21-21. Nene scored 18 points and Marcin Gortat chipped in 14 against his former team as Washington put all five starters in double figures.

Goran Dragic recorded 19 points and 11 assists to lead the Suns. Channing Frye added 16 points and Miles Plumlee scored 14 as Phoenix was held to 38 points after the break.

The Wizards had the lead out to 89-81 before Dragic and Gerald Green combined for six straight points to pull the Suns back to within two midway through the stanza. Plumlee’s basket evened it at 93 with 2:43 to play but Beal answered with a 3-pointer and scored four points in the final 26 seconds to put it away.

Phoenix shot 58.8 percent from the field in the first half and took a 57-51 lead into the locker room but could not carry the momentum through the break. Ariza scored seven points during an 11-4 run to start the third quarter and put the Wizards in front, and his free throws late in the period sent Washington into the fourth with an 82-76 edge.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Gortat was making his first trip back to Phoenix since being traded to Washington on the eve of the regular season. He went 6-for-10 from the floor and added five rebounds and a pair of blocks. … Phoenix committed 21 turnovers and was crushed on the glass 44-30. … The Wizards have won five of their last seven and were kicking off a four-game road trip with the Suns.
