Warriors 97, Pelicans 87: Stephen Curry led the way with 28 points and eight assists as visiting Golden State handed New Orleans its eighth straight loss.

David Lee added 22 points and eight rebounds while Andrew Bogut collected 10 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks as the Warriors avoided a third consecutive setback. Jordan Crawford scored 10 points off the bench for Golden State, which has taken seven straight from the Pelicans.

Anthony Davis recorded 31 points and 17 rebounds to pace New Orleans, which has not won since Ryan Anderson went down with a herniated disc. Tyreke Evans (ankle) returned from a three-game absence and added 14 points while Al-Farouq Aminu contributed 12 points and nine boards.

Brian Roberts completed a four-point play with 4:31 left to pull the Pelicans within 89-84 and Davis’ free throws just over a minute later kept it a five-point gap. Bogut blocked Evans the next time down and Lee knocked down a short jumper before Curry’s four free throws in the final 30 seconds left put the game away.

The Pelicans used a 7-0 run to take a 29-22 lead in the first quarter and pushed it out to an 11-point gap early in the second. Curry scored five points in a 9-0 run to bring the Warriors within 50-48, and his layup sent Golden State into the break down 54-52.

Curry scored on two straight possessions sandwiched around the eight-minute mark of the third to put the Warriors on top. Klay Thompson and Curry each knocked down a 3-pointer in a 14-2 run that gave Golden State a 78-66 advantage with 1:30 left in the third.

New Orleans bridged the third and fourth quarters with a 10-0 burst but could not close the gap completely. The Pelicans shot 38.6 percent from the field overall and were held to 33 points after the half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Golden State had allowed an average of 125 points in its two previous games. … New Orleans G Eric Gordon, who scored a season-high 35 points on Wednesday, slumped to eight points on 3-of-17 shooting. … Thompson and Curry combined to go 4-for-16 from beyond the arc after a 12-for-19 effort at Oklahoma City on Friday.
