Lakers 106, Kings 100:
Jodie Meeks and Pau Gasol scored 19 points apiece as Kobe Bryant-less Los Angeles outlasted host Sacramento.

Bryant, who had mentioned the date with the Kings as a possible season debut following his recovery from Achilles surgery, will instead return at home on Sunday when the Lakers host the Toronto Raptors. Steve Blake chipped in 13 points and 10 assists and Nick Young scored 14 off the bench for Los Angeles.

DeMarcus Cousins recorded 20 points and 11 rebounds and Ben McLemore scored 20 points as Sacramento suffered its sixth straight loss. Isaiah Thomas collected 14 points and nine assists off the bench for the Kings.

Sacramento went into the fourth quarter with an 87-81 lead but the Lakers scored the first seven points of the stanza, taking the lead on Blake’s 3-pointer. The Kings went back up 97-93 on a pair of free throws by Cousins with 3:34 left but could not beat the shot clock on the next possession.

Meeks buried a 3-pointer to cut it to a one-point deficit and Gasol’s jumper with 1:30 left put the Lakers back on top. Meeks spread it out with another 3-pointer and Sacramento turned the ball over on three straight possessions as the Lakers pulled away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Derrick Williams added nine rebounds for the Kings, who built up a 51-36 advantage on the glass. … Sacramento was swept on a four-game homestand and is 3-9 in its own building. … Wesley Johnson had five of the Lakers’ 10 steals and scored 13 points.
