Indiana started slowly in the second half of back-to-back contests before outplaying New Orleans down the stretch. The Pacers finally caught the Pelicans at 76 on George’s 18-footer with 5:41 left and went ahead on Stephenson’s 3-pointer with 4:37 remaining.

New Orleans recovered for an 85-81 lead after Holiday’s basket with 1:58 left. But a three-point play by Roy Hibbert, two free throws by West and a 3-pointer by Hill gave Indiana an 89-85 edge with 31.1 seconds to play and George hit four free throws in the final 12 seconds to seal it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hibbert blocked five shots but was limited to 22 minutes due to foul trouble and finished with just six points and four rebounds. He played despite tweaking his left knee in Tuesday’s season-opening victory over Orlando. … Pelicans F Ryan Anderson (toe fracture) will miss at least one week. … The contest was the first for New Orleans as the Pelicans after switching the nickname from Hornets.
