Gordon Hayward scored 23 points and Paul Millsap had 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as host Utah pulled away in the fourth quarter to keep pace in the Western Conference playoff race.

Al Jefferson chipped in 14 points for the Jazz, who remain a half-game behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Lakers defeated Memphis on Friday.

Anthony Davis led the Hornets with 24 points and 12 rebounds and Greivis Vasquez added 21 points. New Orleans shot 41.6 percent and missed 10 of its 12 shots from 3-point range en route to its eighth straight road loss.

Utah led 71-67 before opening the fourth quarter with eight straight points,and the Jazz never looked back. Hayward, who made 5-of-10 shots from beyond the arc, scored with 4:47 remaining to extend Utah's lead to 86-73.

Hornets guard Eric Gordon was confronted by coach Monty Williams during a timeout in the third quarter and was benched for the entire final period. Utah took control after Gordon sat down at the end of the bench with seven points in 18 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jazz G Alec Burks scored three points in 13 minutes before leaving in the fourth quarter with a sprained left ankle. …. The Hornets are the only team in the NBA that has not won a game away from home since the All-Star break (0-8). … New Orleans fell to 3-39 when trailing at the end of the third quarter.
